I took a snow day today as we have blizzard warnings and 80km an hour winds so thought I would blog. 2016 was a year of changes. I don't think there is an aspect of my life that hasn't had change. To recap:
* In January we made the decision to move to a new town. Best decision ever.
* In February I started a placement with a temp agency and had an amazing couple of months and have friendships that have developed from that placement. They even asked me to stay on but they couldn't match the offer I got AND it is a maternity leave so not permanent.
* In April I landed my current job, it has been amazing, but bumpy ride. My job is not easy, but I like that. I am learning just as much in my off season as I did in season. My boss doesn't expect me to be perfect either. I have made some mistakes, but I am also learning so much more. I am going to go into the new season much more confident than I was last season. I have a few ideas on how to make things more efficient.
*End of April I also made the life altering decision to leave my marriage. It was the right thing, for both of us. It was a very tough decision but no regrets.
* In May I went out to "camp" for the first time. I was nervous but it was a great experience. We are close to the city though. When we go remote I might feel a bit more lonely. I am done earlier than everyone else so have to figure out how to make good use of my down time.
*In September I had plastic surgery. Best decision ever as well. I didn't gain much in the boob department even though they are "huge" in terms of cc's. I basically gained what I lost. I could see how much I lost before but the fact I just "filled out" was a wee bit disappointing. Even the doctor expected me to go up 2 cup sizes or more. You can't tell I have had a boob job, with my natural tissue on top. I will get them redone in about 6 years when my loans are up.
My tummy tuck was also amazing, and makes me feel amazing. I lost not fat, just skin but my last pair of pants I bought were a size 10!!! SIZE 10. I was a 22/24 last year. I am still "thick" and always will be because I have so much scar tissue.
* In October I met my bf so it has now been 3 months. I am still unsure about this relationship. He is super sweet, cares about me a lot but has a side that I will not put up with. He says things he doesn't mean when he gets angry/upset and that isn't something I will accept from anyone. No one is perfect, but I will never ever do that and I won't go through it again. So.....right now I do not trust him, and he knows that. I have given him the chance to show me that isn't how he always reacts. We will see.
*In October I also did my first thanksgiving without my family. I had a very nice time with my best friend.
* In November I went to Mexico for the first time, it was amazing! I wish I could go on a trip this year, but things just got expensive. Will further explain.
*In December I didn't decorate for Christmas or put up a tree. I woke up alone Christmas morning and I wasn't OK with that Christmas eve. Especially since I have a bf in the city who also woke up alone. I sure felt loved though with all the Christmas wishes I already had by 9 am, the amount of texts I got etc. I also went to working in the office and out of the field.
I am going to add January to this mix because it also makes a lot more changes.
* In the first 12 days of January there have also been some major changes. I have re-homed my beloved dog. It was the right thing to do........for him. I didn't have much time to adjust to it either. The guy came to meet him last Thursday and I expected it would take some time and I could adjust to the process. He liked him and told me they would take him that Saturday. I brought my bf out for the weekend so I wouldn't be alone. I cried, and cried, and cried. When he came Saturday he came 3 hours early so I had less time than I thought. I had all his stuff ready. He went to put it and his daughter in the truck and was giving me a moment to say goodbye to Bear......well Bear had other ideas. He followed the guy to the truck and as soon as he put his daughter in Bear jumped in. He is very protective and decided he was going to be with that little girl. He would not move to the front seat. My only concern is that he is going to be an outside/inside dog. They have another dog and always want 2 dogs so they have a companion. Last I heard he wouldn't sleep outside yet but I imagine he will as time goes on. He sleeps in their porch for now. He fits in there. He didn't whine so he felt at home. He didn't adjust like that with the other two homes I tried.
* I have also decided to move to the city. I hate living in the city but now I have almost made it official. I am putting in an application and deposit down at the end of the month so that if it falls through I have a bit of time to find something. My bf keeps mentioning living with him but I am not going to do that. I WANT to be on my own. I haven't lived in my own in so many years that I am embracing it.
2017 will be a challenging year financially. Between my surgeries and this move I have added $750 in bills a month. That makes things tight. I hope I get the yearly raise in May when the rest of them do. We are not on the union though so I do not know how it all works. That bit extra will help though if we do.
I am looking forward to what 2017 brings. I got through 2016 and all those changes with my sanity still intact and without too many break downs. 2017 will be a challenge for my company because with the new provincial government afraid to spend things are slow atm. I don't know what job or if there will be one once we are done this project. I am sure something else will come up, but I like to know what is going on so the waiting is tough lol.
I hope everyone had a fantastic 2016 and has an even better 2017!
