We got to bed real late, which i expected, but i set the alarm anyways. When we were walking to go to Pampas i mentioned to my husband i still never got my denny's (i love the pancakes). We do not have one here and the one in the city is SUPER expensive. I originally planned to do lunch the last day at Original Chicken Tenders at MC.
We decided the night before to go to denny's about 1 as we needed to eat later. It would be between 11pm-12am before we could eat at home and i didn't want to have 12 hours between eating. I told Kiwi and Lady i would phone them about 12:30 and see if they were up. If so they could join us, if not, well that would be too bad.
We got up about 10, they told me they only extend check out till 12pm otherwise people can pay for a full day. MB gave me 1pm but i wasn't gonna argue, i would take that hour. We went down to the pool. I didn't know if i wanted to swim but i did want to enjoy the weather before coming back to my cold really crappy weather.
Sadly it was overcast (first time all week) and a bit windy so it wasn't that warm even though the temp was about +24C. The wind with no sun makes it feel much, much cooler. I went in the hot tub for a while but just too many kids around so i decided to lay on a lounger reading for a while to pass time. Husband felt it was too cold to get wet so he just laid there too.
I was feeling ok but husband was hungover. For him it is the same story all the time. He is feeling great, till that last drink. Then it hits him *bam*. I stop drinking when i feel like i have had enough but because it takes so long to hit him he can't tell the same limits. I was sad though. I didn't want to come home....... at all.
I missed my dog terribly and if i had him there i think i would have stayed for the 6 months i would be allowed too lol. In reality i couldn't live without money but boy did i like the weather! There are many reasons why i live where i do. The weather sucks but we have free health care, very few natural disasters. No poisonous snakes/spiders etc. On and on i could go. It is also fairly cheap. Our mortgage is less than $600 a month but most apartments now start at $800 but the weather really, really sucks, we do get real hot in the summer though (like now).
Denny's was packed, with that comes crappy service, for others though, not us, we had good service but some people did walk out. I called Colin (kiwi) and i woke him up, they were totally not awake nor feeling the greatest i imagine so i said our goodbyes on the phone. We then took a cab to the airport and got there about 2:30. Well ahead of our 5pm flight time. I prefer to get to the airport early.
The one time i didn't is when i had issues. I had an emergency situation where i had to fly out and in the rush i forgot my jacket (was 1/2 way to airport before i even realised it) and was at the check in counter 5 minutes late. The guy actually put a late sticker on all my stuff and told me i might not be able to board even though the plane was NOT boarding yet and my mom was in ICU on life support (she is ok now, but at the time wasn't and i was pretty freaked out). I never want to feel that way again.
Of course everything went smooth which i am grateful for. I thought holiday weekend it would be real busy but it wasn't. At least not T3. There was a line up for security as we were behind a girls team but was only like 20 minutes. This was the first time we have ever had to go through a body scanner though. My husband did not like it, there was one or 2 people who only had to go through the metal detector and he was mad that they got through so fast lol.
I finally said, we are here real early anyway and have a while to wait so just relax. It was a boring wait. I know people say they can always tell who is coming and going by the look of their faces. The ones just arriving are of course excited and the ones leaving aren't. That wasn't the case here, most seemed glad to be going home.
Flight was delayed 20 minutes due to it not arriving on time. It was a direct flight from WPG and going back to WPG. In the end it was almost 40 minutes late before we started to taxi but only 20 minutes late arriving in wpg. Despite turbulence we caught up a bit.
I have to sit in an aisle seat and husband wants window seat so i booked us those spots. Of course the person with middle seat was part of a couple and not a solo traveler. She asked if i would move to the middle so she could talk to her husband over the aisle. I have to have aisle and i told her that so then she asked if i would mind moving across and sit in that aisle seat so they could sit together. Being the lovely person i am i told her that was fine. My husband would just watch movies anyways, he doesn't really talk on planes so it didn't bother me. The flight going up was only 3/4 and quiet, very quiet. This one was 100% full and very loud. Everyone must have been excited to talk about their trip and what they did there.
I was still sad at leaving the nice weather behind. I did dress more for home but i did not check weather before we left. It was BITTER cold. Everyone was like omg as we hit that off ramp. 50-60km winds and it was rain & snow. After having perfect weather all week and no precipitation it kinda sucked.
Going through customs and luggage was a breeze. I didn't even have to show my receipts for anything. I saw there were a few people in secondary but i was just glad i was not one of them. 30 minutes later we had our stuff and went to meet my friend who brought my trailblazer to pick us up. We still had a 60 minute ride home. McDonald's (which i thought we would eat all the time in vegas but didn't have once) drive thru and we were on our way.
I was excited to see my dog. He has separation anxiety and is very attached to both of us. We are very attached to him as well. My son is 15 now so i don't get anxious about leaving him anymore and the dog is our baby. he is like a child to us. He is happiest when the 2 of us are together. He doesn't like it as much when it is just 1 of us home. He feels a bit anxious. He loves my son but is not attached to him the way he is with us. I had my brother (who my dog loves very much) stay at my house and watch him. I do pay him, it is about 1/2 the price of the kennel. I like it because my dog then knows we are coming back because he is at home. 1.5 years ago when we went away for the first time since we got him he destroyed everything he could. This is our 3rd trip in that time and he was really good. He gets so excited and shakes. He doesn't know who to go to. It is quite cute. It felt good to be home, with our things around. I am a homebody and love it.
My next post will be a summary and then i will be back to life now!
