I have a few more posts coming in the next couple weeks. One is controversial but one i look forward to writing. I wanted to write it today but i have to go for a shower and i have a client coming at 7, then i have to make supper and do my nails for the trip.
I am quite anxious about leaving my dog in a kennel, because it is for 3 full days i am scared he will be confused and feel abandoned. He stayed there for 1 night when he was 6 months old, that was almost a year and a half ago. At least with someone here at home he knows this is his home and we will be back. I have had enough heartache over animals this week.
My heart is so big it feels like it is going to explode sometimes and i cry, cry, cry for the mistreatment of animals. Someone posted a picture of a dog in the park close to me, i commented that it looked real skinny like it was starving. She said he was crying when she was calling to it but she couldn't help him, already had 2 dogs and cats at home. We have no room for another dog but when i heard he was crying i didn't care about that.
I grabbed a can of bear's wet food, if this dog hadn't had food in a while it would be easier than dry food on his system. The park is only one way, so i was anxious and upset as i drove all the way around to the spot where she said he was. I then saw him running down the road and i called to him. I threw the blazer in park, jumped out with both doors open (wanted to pick him up) and took the can to him. I fed him and he was so hungry. I noticed he had the sharp baby teeth still and he was much smaller than i thought. A husky/sheppard cross he looked like and was probably only 6 months old. He was also very scared. He wanted the food but would not let me touch him. I ended up dumping the can on the ground so i could grab him. I left a bit on the ground so i could get him (he got most of it). I wanted him out of the cold.
Another vehicle was coming and she asked if that was my dog. Turns out she had seen the post too, she was able to take him and if couldn't find him a home her daughter wanted him, would have to get through to her hubby though lol so i gave him to her. I wish i knew who she was so i could check on him. She never posted on that picture so idk but she looked like a very nice lady and the dog was on my passenger seat, when i opened that door he went over to the drivers side so i don't think he has had human interaction in a long time. I told her he was petrified and it would probably be a good idea if her daughter got in the backseat with the dog to comfort him. The dog then curled up beside her and i bawled as they drove away. My husband didn't quite understand why i was so sad if it had a happy ending.
Someone then posted about a story they heard of someone throwing their dog out the back of their truck close to one of the reserves here and the poor dog chased it till it could not run anymore. That just broke my heart again and i bawled again. I just think about this dog i have and how heart broken he would be if we did something like that. I would live on the street before giving him up. I do not understand these cruel people what so ever.
We were originally going to take the blazer which is a nice comfortable ride but i have a bill that will come out tonight i forgot about originally so i can not afford the gas for it to go 1000 kms (there and back). Now we have to take the car, which is small, the passenger seat belt locks and annoys me. It is really tiny compared to the blazer. We have a Pontiac grand am coupe, sports model so it is only 2 door, compared to a full size Chevy trailblazer it is way way different. It is also way way different on gas. Probably about a $100 difference for the trip, which is how much that bill is lol.
Well the dog wants his supper and it is now 6 so time for me to go get ready and make sure i have my stuff together. I hope everyone has a good weekend.
ugh, me too! i love animals so much but sometimes i feel like it's TOO much. i am constantly worrying/thinking about my animals and if they're happy. and it breaks my heart when i see animals kenneled. don't even get me started on animal mistreatment. OMG, it makes me sick. i seriously like animals more than people. i LOVE animals. they love you unconditionally, and all you have to do is love them back, ya know. it just kills. me.
ReplyDeleteGood for you for trying to help him. It is heartbreaking. I don't understand people. Animals don't ask for much, but they give SO MUCH back to us. mum
ReplyDeletei totally get it emily. I thought crate training was cruel until i did my homework. We have a big crate, way bigger than needed and he likes it and goes in it on his own when he wants to be alone. This kennel is good, has a good facility, is highly recommended and is small, with the kennels all having an inside & outside door. It is heated at this time of year so it was comfortable.
ReplyDeleteIt is just him & his wife, they have certain animals each they walk. He was ok to go there which helped me feel better but it was the thought of him feeling abandoned that got to me. He has separation anxiety. I think it is a good lesson for an animal to build more trust, but i still hated it.
I fully agree mum, how people can be so cruel is beyond me. Those people are the ones who are cruel to their family as well.
