Medical updates

As many of you know i have serious issues that affect my walking, sitting, standing etc. I have always known my hips go out. Pain also projects from areas. Here is what happened on tuesday.

Went for a CT of the nasal cavity Monday as i have had sinus issues going on 4 months now and the ENT has not responded to my doctors referral from November (in all fairness he took january off) and today i get a call asking where i want a prescrip filled for an antibiotic. The nurse knew nothing as my results were not posted in the system but said my doc must have seen them. His usual nurse is on holidays and knows me well so she would have been more on the ball but this one is just a fill in. Caught off guard and not thinking about the fact we get coverage come saturday, thinking it would be 15-20$ i told her where to fax it to be filled. $80 friggen dollars later! That is an expense i did not need right now, 1 more week and i woulda been covered! Add that to the $50 extra on my inconsiderate son's phone bill for long distance (i will be explaining that one on the other blog shortly) and that is a lot of money i didn't expect right now. **UPDATE** I went to the pharmacy today and asked if they could shelve it until next week when we would have coverage and they said sure, but it won't be a guarantee that is will be covered as it is a very strong one (usually most people are given the lesser ones but i have taken antibiotics so much and i assume this is bad enough to require the strong drug) and has a sticker on it saying it needs special permissions so i may have to still pay for it but it is worth a shot.

Side note, my husband went to the doctor today to get his form filled out that he needs to keep on hand for his medical ei and i told him to get his bark checked out. he has had this awful cough for more than a week and seemed to get better but he was off the cough syrup for a day and it got worse. He got a prescrip and for 6 pills it was $30! Ouch, what is with these costs lol. While i have had this 4 months now another week won't hurt for him it would, it affects everything he does. I had sinus pressure and a headache when i got home today and just took sinus pills, he can't do that.

Went to get the disc from my chiropractor xrays in the city and he said my hips are twisted, which i knew, and that my neck instead of it being 45 degrees curve out it is 45 degrees in which is why i have so much discomfort up top but that it is fixable. He recommended a different chiropractor than my normal one and said ideally i would go 3 times a week for 6 weeks to start then introduce the massage therapy and between both i could be better in 2 years. That is quite the expense as well though. I have coverage for $300 which would be done in the 6 weeks so anything after that would come out of pocket. This is getting to be an expensive year. It is $24 a visit and he figured it could cost me 2k a year. We have lots of free coverage in canada like all surgeries and hospital stays and meds in the hospital but prescriptions and chiro etc are not covered.

I need an evening job but can't be on my feet too long until i am better. I would LOVE it if i could get fixed, that would be a dream come true. I would then be able to exercise again. People scoffed when i said i couldn't even vacuum or mop (nor sweep but i do it anyways sometimes) an he even said it right in front of my husband that those are activities i can not do pain free because of the pressure those motions puts on my hips, even with our steam mop. I am not sure if this has to do with the walking but it has a lot to do with it. Not sure what the leg problem that i have when i walk is. I guess if i ever was able to afford to get fixed then i would find out.

Someone suggested doing a donation site but with soooooooooooo many worse off than me and needing more help than me it isn't even a thought and will never be. If i can not afford to get fixed i just won't get fixed. Right now i can not afford it but that doesn't mean i won't be able to in the future. It fully affects my quality of life and the doc said just looking at the xrays and my scan he can tell that. At this point i can't even remember the last time i was healthy and pain free in one area or another. I was 16 when i first started getting sick and throwing up and 20-21 when i fell and twisted my back/hips so that is a long time.

He said the reason i needed to go so often is that it only takes 36-48 hours for the body to move back out of place and so to do any sort of correction work i need to hardcore go at it. I was telling him how massage therapy barely does anything and that the RMT is shocked at how much i can withstand for pressure and he said that is because my body has just become so adapted to the pain. He also said i need to get fixed by the chiro before doing massage but that i will need both.

I am cutting up one CC and cancelling it after vegas so i hope in the next 6 months the payments will start getting lower (my husband already did that last year and he paid 4k in a year) so maybe at that time i will have a few extra bucks to get this going. I don't want to start it soon as i get coverage. I might go now once or twice just to get some relief because i am so knotted right now. I did not want to go before this test so that i would be at my worst. Stupid me took tylenol the night before thinking it would be out of my system but it wasn't and so my scans were altered. I wish he took a new one but eh it is what it is.

So that is kinda where i am at healthwise right now. I did say to my husband on the way home. I told ya that it hurt me to vacuum or mop but you guys never believed me. Can't ignore it when the doctor tells him straight out.

I am also fat so people assume that has to do with it. I had EVERY problem way before i ever gained a pound. I hate the looks i get when people ask about my health and i tell them the truth and then they look at me and think i am exaggerating or making it up and it just must be my weight that is the problem. It is hard when it is something the eye can not see. I told my husband i would never ever make up how i am feeling because if i could trade it for being healthy and being able to walk/run and do physical things i would in an INSTANT. I would almost give my soul to not have this pain daily. I can't do anything pain free, not even sleep. For someone who was extremely athletic and played every sport i could in school this has all been a major blow. For pete's sake i had a 6 pack ABS were killer and i was skinny :(.

My husband grabbed my calf the other day and said holy you have athletic calves. I said yes, they are huge and tight from all the sports, i was even on the track team and not an ounce of fat is on those babies, they are the only place without fat lol. They are just as tight as my neck for knots though.

This isn't a pity me party either. I am just an open person so not afraid to talk about my issues/problems. Don't feel sorry for me.

  1. Good to hear from you. Take it one day at a time. A plan will come together. Here's to hoping that script will be quite a bit cheaper once the coverage kicks in. What other blog are you posting on now? mum

  2. On Jen's blog. I had an introductory post but now it is time to post about austin. I just need the time to do so. I haven't had any time this week, i stayed up after midnight just to get this post up. I have my meeting minutes to do up still and those take a couple hours so hopefully in the next week or so.
